A Healthy Home

Health awareness has become a growing global concern in recent years. Numerous publications, spot commercials on the media, and entire documentaries describe the causes of air pollution and their effect on the population, offering preventative measures to combat polluting sources.

Air pollution is a modern phenomenon that threatens everyone in industrialized society. It even threatens us where we think we are safe, in our homes.  Unhealthy indoor air is presumed to cause or aggravate up to 50% of all illnesses, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency

A family needs to take the environmental control measures that reduce exposure to allergy triggers."Cleanliness is next to healthiness" especially when it comes to allergies.

Some require little changes in the home, while others can be costly or fairly time-consuming. Talk with the doctor about starting with environmental control measures that will limit those allergens and irritants causing immediate problems for a child. But know that allergies develop over time with continued exposure to allergens. Dust mites may not be a trigger for a child now, but with continued uncontrolled exposure, they can become one. The doctor may suggest taking proactive steps now so your child doesn't develop new allergies
